Dogwood’s 1-to-1 Shelter Program
We love the pups that we breed, and we are committed to doing it to improve the health of dogs: to help breed out things such as hereditary diseases, early onset arthritis, hip dysplasia, and weak elbows. However, we recognize that there are a host of homeless dogs in need of families. For this reason, we are committed to helping a shelter dog for every dog that we sell. Targeting one of our favorite local shelters, Our Pal’s Place, our help is available in many forms including but not limited to fostering homeless litters, covering the cost of heart worm treatment and / or professional training to help prepare a dog for adoption, and dog sponsorship.
Examples of our 1-to-1 shelter program so far (pups shown below are residents of OPP; however, they may not be the exact recipients of Dogwood’s donations. We rely on OPP to decide the best use of their limited resources).
Meet Charlie!
Charlie is just one of several dogs at OPP requiring medical attention in order to more easily find his forever family. To help him and others like him on their way to find their families, we have contributed to OPP’s Save-A-Heart program.
Meet Goober!
Goober is the quintessential poster boy for OPPs pups up for adoption. With the love, support and coaching from Gigi and her team of volunteers, Goober is sure to make his forever family forever grateful for their furry companion and the OPP folks who brought them together. At Dogwood, we are thrilled to be a small part of this experience by donating the equivalent of adoption fees in the form of food and wish list items.
